Released in 1996, Greetings… From Lake Dolores was one of two albums released by the group, The Friendly Indians. The album features songs like “Ever so Slowly”, and “Trying to Get Over You” which take a twist on the growing California rock scene by adding what can only be described as a vintage feel to the music. Perfect for a sunny day car ride with the windows down, this album is upbeat and almost satirical in a way as many of the songs are about pushing past unfortunate circumstances. The friendly Indians did a few shows in the Orange County area, they never did much of an official tour as the group had trouble gaining a substantial following. Nonetheless, they would release a second album named, Pure Genius, in 1999. This album bore a fond resemblance to its predecessor, with the exception of one song in particular, “Chupacabras,” as it is sung in a mix of Spanish and English, incorporating aspects of traditional Latin music, instead of the American Rock scene that the band is known for.
