Between all the decorations, gatherings, food, possible traveling and the music, the holidays have a special feeling about them. A kick off to the holiday season is the numerous movies that have become holiday classics and people’s favorites.

The movies come in a variety of ways, there are the classics that everyone has seen such as “Home Alone,” “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “A Christmas Story” and “Miracle on 34th Street.” Also the more modern hit movies like “Elf,” “Love Actually,” “The Grinch” and “The Polar Express.” Although these movies are great classics that remain popular throughout the decades there is a modern holiday genre that is quickly taking over.

There is a new genre full of romance, comedy and holiday spirit. All the movies have the same structure and contain similar sayings and catch-phrases. Although so many people love the movies, Hallmark has built a reputation of producing movies with the same plot and even the same actors and actresses playing the characters.

So why are they so popular and addicting if they are all the same?

Hallmark seems to hire the same actors and actresses in their movies and this further provides consistency. They all have a very similar plot: two single characters who have a dramatic past and find each other in the warmth of the holidays. Although, the movies do not stray away from conflict, the couple always find their way back to each other.

Some of the most repetitive actors and actresses are Cameron Mathison, Andrew Walker and Paul Greene. And actresses, Lacey Chabert, Alicia Witt and Candace Cameron-Bure.

The couple often faces some conflict towards the end of the story where they separate for a brief time. Usually the case is one of the characters is carrying around a deal breaking secret that the other character eventually overlooks, and the movies end with nothing but love and happiness.

If Hallmark has anything perfected, it’s creating the storybook love story; however, it is an exaggeration of what real life is like but provides the audience with an interesting and festive movie.

The Hallmark Channel movies are widely popular and people are obsessed with them because of their hopeless romantic feel and cheery tone. But there’s hardly any variety to the movies, and still people keep watching and getting sucked in.

People love a happy ending. Watching movies where everything is perfect. Even when times get tough it always ends perfectly gives people a peace of mind. The movies provide a safe place for people during the holidays to see that no matter what is going on in the world, the world of hallmark always remains perfect.

Especially with today’s world full of hate and violence, people cling to happiness in search of whatever will make the world seem more uplifting. When people watch Hallmark movies it can remind them that the world can still be good and love still exists.

Due to this, Hallmark has become a huge phenomenon and is loved by many. People can watch these movies on repeat and never get tired of them because of their charm and happy endings.
