The girls cross country team went to states last weekend, getting 6th place out of the top 20 teams in Ohio for Division 2. This was the last meet of the season, but the girls are hopeful that indoor track will be starting soon.
Junior Regina Rose was the highest placing individual for the Granville team, getting 11th place with a time of 18:49. Rose has been doing cross country since 7th grade, and track since 4th. “I do it because of the team atmosphere and how it challenges me to push myself both physically and mentally.” Rose says.
Sophomore Sophia Cotts has been part of cross country for the past 4 years, starting in 7th grade. “I run cross country because I really enjoy running,” Cotts says. “I love the group of girls, and I like pushing myself.” Cotts calls herself “blessed” to have gotten to know “such a great group of athletes,” and will continue working towards her goal of breaking 21 minutes.
While the next season of cross country doesn’t start until next year, the girls will continue to run, either for the track team, or on their own.
