Students and faculty are skeptical as Granville embraces a new learning management system (LMS) for the 2015-2016 school year.
Schoology is replacing last year’s LMS, My Big Campus, which was shut down by its parent company last spring.
Like My Big Campus, Schoology is meant to look familiar to Facebook to make it easy to use. It allows for students to connect with their teachers and be up to date on class work from any location using the internet.
The idea of Schoology failing, however, is common among both students and faculty.
“So far it seems easier to use than My Big Campus, but it think it will fail like all the rest,” junior Zelli Margarf said.
According to Mrs. Tiera Cramer, some teachers are worried about “how much time is being spent training on the new program for it to simply fail in a year.”
Principle Mr. Matt Durst said in an interview that he is “cautiously optimistic” about Schoology.
Mr. Evan McCullough is the new IT member who is leading the Schoology charge at Granville says he is “optimistic” about the new program and the impact it will have in the classroom.
Whether or not Schoology will fail is weighing on everyone’s mind, but only time will tell if this mutual feeling of doubt will prove to come true.
