The boys varsity basketball team claimed the title of LCL-Buckeye co-champions Friday night against Zanesville, with a final score of 45-43. With the high spectator turnout for senior night, the energy in the gym was electric. Both the home and visitor sides were packed with fans, anxiously watching the close game.

Granville and Zanesville were neck and neck throughout the entire game. The aces came out strong, gaining a slight lead of 21-20 at halftime. The first half was filled with aggressive plays by junior Jase Becker, who scored 6 points before halftime. The blue devils came back in the third quarter, making the score 33-28.

Junior Dante Varrasso led the team with 17 total points, with sophomore Carson Murphy falling behind him with 9 total points. Murphy made two crucial three-point shots in both the 2nd and 3rd quarters, helping give the Aces the momentum needed to pull off a win.

With less than five seconds left in the game, Varrasso pushed through two defenders to make a layup, giving Granville the two-point lead needed to win the game. Fans were on their feet jumping with excitement as the aces defeated Zanesville, earning them the shared title of LCL champs with Licking heights.

The boys play at Briggs High School tonight, a non-conference school.
