‘Little Women’ explores the struggles of being a woman

The high school’s new play, “Little Women,” is showing on February 9th, 10th, and 11th at 7 pm. Tickets are free on February 9th, but only for students, being a private showing; otherwise, tickets are $10 each and purchased on the website showtix4u.com.

The play “Little Women” is based on the original book by Louisa May Alcott, also titled “Little Women” and published in 1868. The play follows four sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy; and details their lives growing up together and moving out.

With the themes of family, love, and kindness, “Little Women” covers the struggles of being a woman in the 1860s. Therefore, the sisters’ adversity, facing inequality and poverty while maintaining a kind heart, is the driving force of the play.

Member of the Publicity Staff for “Little Women”, Lorie Hord, says “it’s about figuring out who you are.”

Lorie also adds that her favorite part was “watching it all come together at the end.”

A compelling story, “Little Women” uses every last minute to complete the story’s arc, and give Meg, Jo, and Beth fully developed stories.
