The indoor track team hosted their very first meet on Jan. 19 at Capital University. The team had to host the event off-site because the high school does not have an indoor facility, and Denison was not available.
“Denison wants to keep their athletes together, and train with only each other,” pole vaulter Annie McCracken said.
Since the team was not able to host at Denison, they hosted at Capital University. There were very minimal schools who were at the meet, less than 5.
The question as to why we just hosted our first home meet was proposed to principal Scott Hinton, and why it was not at Denison.
“So in terms of original idea, I just think, why not right? We host track meets, outdoor track meets and things,” Hinton said. When asked about the meet not being at Denison, he “speculates on scheduling and capacity issues.”
Although there were PR’s set and athletes believed the turnout was good, it is unknown if there will be another home meet hosted.
“I have not had specific conversations with Mr. Carr about it.” Hinton said.
