Girls’ Soccer showed their skills this weekend at districts winning against Big Walnut with a score of 2-0.
“We were really nervous actually, ” goalie Winston stated. “It was a very sensitive match. We beat them at districts last year and they were furious at the referees.”
The Aces were undeterred by nerves leading up to the match and defended their title successfully.
“Big Walnut was really intense right from the start,” Winston said. “But they didn’t capitalize on any of their opportunities like we did.”
The year the team is eager to reach the next level.
“Next is regionals, our goal is to win states,” Winston said. “A lot of our seniors went to state finals as sophomores, and we want to win it this year.”
Regionals will be held tonight at Bloom Carroll at 7:00, giving GHS students a chance to support the team.
Correction: In an earlier version of this article, Winston was quoted as saying that the seniors went to state finals as freshmen, but that quotes has been corrected to say that they went to the state finals as sophomores.
