The BAM staff is celebrating 25 seniors from the Class of 2025! Starting May 1, we’ll highlight one randomly selected senior each day as we count down to graduation. The fifteenth senior is Miho Gillespie.
What has been the highlight of your senior year?
I definitely think the highlight of this year has been getting to do the musical. I got to do it alongside some of my best friends, and I made a lot of new ones. I’ve never done it before, so it was a great opportunity for me to learn something new!
What is your favorite memory of your time in high school?
Although it just happened recently, I would say my favorite memory was the spring concert of this year. A lot of my life revolves around music and the spring concert is always very emotional for everyone, so it was nice to get to experience that final moment with everyone and get to sing my senior solo.
What are your future plans?
I will be going to Otterbein University for Zoo and Conservation Science! I also plan to devote more time to social advocacy.
What will you miss the most about high school?
I will miss all of the people, both teachers and students. It will be different not getting to see all of these people that have greatly impacted my life every day.
What are you looking forward to after graduation?
Having more free time. I took on a lot of things this year, so it will be nice to finally relax.
What was your favorite school lunch (alternatively, favorite thing you’ve brought)?
There was a time during junior year where I would pack items to make avocado toast every day for lunch for like 2 months straight.
What Portrait of Graduate do you identify most with?
I definitely identify with the empathetic trait the most. One of my core values/beliefs is that everyone should try to put themselves in other people’s shoes and empathize with them. Everyone is different, but that shouldn’t be a reason to spread hate.
What was your favorite class?
My favorite class would be my AP Enviro class I’m taking this year. It really aligns with what I want to do in life, so it’s easy to enjoy and the lessons you learn in the class are super important for everyone.
What was your favorite class project?
In the art class I took last year, I realized I really like working with charcoal, so I’d have to say my charcoal drawing of a bird.
What advice would you give underclassmen?
Try everything at least once because you might realize you end up really liking it and don’t forget to cherish your time in high school while it lasts. The four years go by really fast and sometimes it can be hard to enjoy things in the moment, but you’ll look back on them really fondly.
