The BAM staff is celebrating 25 seniors from the Class of 2025! Starting May 1, we’ll highlight one randomly selected senior each day as we count down to graduation. The nineteenth senior is Avery Ogg.
What has been the highlight of your senior year?
The highlight of my senior year was becoming closer friends with everyone I know and truly coming together for our last year here at Granville.
What is your favorite memory of your time in high school?
My favorite memory of my time in high school was probably the school trip to Japan I went on with my friends. It is such a great opportunity that we are given to see the world and it was such an amazing experience. I would 100% go back to see it again. I had the best time with my friends.
What are your future plans?
My future plans are to attend the University of Dayton to obtain a degree in Communications with a minor in Public Relations or Marketing
What will you miss the most about high school?
I will miss the dances most after high school. I really enjoy getting ready with my friends and having a reason to dress up. Everyone is always so excited and kind of nervous for the big day! I think getting to spend that time together is the best.
What are you looking forward to after graduation?
I am looking forward to falling back in love with school at college. I am a creature of habit so I need a schedule to run off of or I start to go a little crazy! I am excited to run off of a schedule again when fall comes around and begin studying things I am passionate about.
What was your favorite school lunch (alternatively, favorite thing you’ve brought)?
Favorite school lunch was definitely the school grilled cheese and tomato soup.
What Portrait of Graduate do you identify most with?
I resonate with empathetic the most because I am a very understanding person and tend to be someone people come to when they need to talk. This has always been someone I’ve been to the people around me and I’m so thankful that the people closest to me feel like they can come to me when they need someone to talk to who will understand.
What was your favorite class?
My favorite class of all time was in fact not Mrs Muhlenkamp’s class (sorry mom) but was Mrs Smith’s English class my sophomore year.
What was your favorite class project?
My favorite class project was the sophomore speeches!
What advice would you give underclassmen?
I would tell underclassmen to be patient. I know how slow everything feels so slow and I know how it feels like a crawl to the end. Be patient with your friends because nobody is perfect and they are just trying to get through everything just like you are. Be patient with your teachers and your parents because that goes a lot farther than you think it will. And be patient with yourself. I understand that you want to be the BEST at school, or the BEST at your sport, or the BEST at your club! But you really just need to do the best YOU can and in the end that is what matters. Be patient because these next days are gonna fly by, and you are gonna be in a cap and gown wishing it hadn’t flown by so fast. Slow down and be patient:)
