SOPHIA EHLERS (’17)
As the 2015 fall sports season comes to an end, another group of seniors say fair well to their coaches, fellow teammates and leave their legacy behind.
Girls’ sports have always been a power house a Granville high school. All state championships are owed to them. Many times they come out in the top rankings for the district, region, and sometimes state.
The girls’ soccer team has had an amazing season, so far earning a league championship, district championship, and regional championship. They have swept through the post-season tournament and will continue it through November as they compete in the state final four. Their looking to one up there appearance in/as state final four and runner ups in the previous two years. They will graduate five seniors; Niki Cox, Tori Long, Journey Link, Elia Taiganides, and Taylor Beitzel.

The girls cross country team has being running to success in recent years. Last year they took home the state title and expected nothing less this year. Though there season came and went without a state title, the team made a phenomenal run placing 7th in the state tournament. The team not only made it to the tournament back to back years, this year they were moved up to division I, meaning they faced schools all across Ohio with 3,000 plus kids to Granville’s 800 students. They will graduate Tori Flowers, Grace Montgomary, Theresa Schulucter, and Michaela DeGenero.

Michaela DeGenero, a senior committed to run at Michigan University, message to future players, “There are so many obstacles in front of success and some of them will beat you for a time, but you have to get up of you want to achieve your dreams and goals”.
The Volleyball team has had an impressive season despite losing earlier than expected to Bishop Hartley in the District semis. They ended their regular season with 19 wins and 3 losses, along with being runner-ups in the Licking county league. They will graduate three seniors; Emilee Skerbetz, Morgan Dawson and Delaney Dawson.

The Girls golf team ended their season with second place in the LCL and grew immensely as a program. They also tied the nine hole school record with a total of 179. The girl’s golf team will continue to strive for success in future years. They will graduate Maggie Wolf, Ariana Long, and Sammi Evans.

The Girl’s field hockey team had an amazing season with 12-5-3 record. They continued onto the post season tournament and lost in the third round to Columbus Academy, the league powerhouse. They overcame obstacles and performed well with their first year coach Bobbi Sedelle. They will graduate ten seniors, Mackenzie Eble, Jaclyn Moxley, Laney Nallie, Gracie Parsley, Elise Morrison, Cristin Sutliff, Paris Miller, Sarah Ahrant, Emilee Brown, and Arel Neuenswander.
Gracie Parsley, a senior captain, message to future players, “As you go through high school there will always be people doubting you, trying to bring you down, and then there will be those who support you unconditionally, only wish for you to succeed, and those are the people you must surround yourself with”.
