This winter the Granville band program will be adding to its resume with a performance at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 31. The band will be an important part of the festivities before and during the game.
“I am absolutely stoked!” band director Mr. Smith said.
“This is a great opportunity for the students and the program, ” Smith said. “You have to be invited to participate, so it’s a big deal”
Every student who is involved in the band has a chance to go. Both the concert and marching bands are going which makes up around one hundred students. Three coach buses will be required to ferry all the students and chaperons to Atlanta. Along with playing during the game the band will be going to Coke world and the Atlanta Aquarium.
Because playing at a bowl game is such a huge honor this does put the band program on the radar for other events.
“This is a great honor to play at the Peach Bowl, but it is also a stepping stone to bigger events such as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and other events of that magnitude,” said band director Mr. Krumm.
There is no question amongst the band about how much fun they plan to have, and how much of an honor it is to play at a college bowl game.
“I am really looking forward to the trip. I am looking forward to spending time with my friends and playing in such a great venue,” said band member Chad Davis.
