HUNTER BROWN (’16)
For many years, the Blue Ace baseball team has always be a top contender in their league. Coach Ghiloni has been the head coach for nine years now, and the Blue Aces have been a tough team to beat.
The team ended their regular season with a record of 13-8-1. The 2016 team was the best team in their league bringing home the LCL. Though seniors Matt Crudele and Zach Blumling described the ending to their season as being somewhat sad with a heartbreaking loss in the playoffs, 4-3 against Bishop Hartley.
“Good season, we hit a lot of dingers, but it was a sad ending” said Matt Crudele.
Though the baseball team shows a promising future since the underclassmen this year played a major role on the team.
“Underclassmen Nate Stone and Justin Carson did great this season. They are good players with bright futures” said Matt Crudele.
Justin Carson became one of the better pitchers for the Blue Aces later in the season, and Nate Stone became a good fielder for the varsity team.
Jack Petterson, a junior on the varsity team, constantly got better over the course of the season, and hit a solo home run in their playoff loss.
“Jack Petterson has improved the most this season, and our team had great leadership from Matt, Sam, and Zach” said Zach Blumling.
Nonetheless the team looks move forward and improve for next season. The team has some strong returning players next year, and there is a good chance they are a contender for the LCL next year.
