New WiFi access points were installed in classrooms late July as a system upgrade.
Due to the outdated technology being used by the old WiFi system, Technology Coordinator Glenn Welker decided that a new system should be installed.
“The old ones needed to be upgraded,” said Evan McCullough, the district’s technology application coordinator. “They were using some older standards of wireless technology and it ended up being financially advantageous for us to totally change the system.”
The small, gray boxes on the ceilings of classrooms are the WiFi access points.
McCullough explained that the access points are “similar to a router at home.” “They’re just the things passing wireless internet out,” he said.
Principal Matt Durst is pleased with the updates.
“They say we’re gonna upgrade and I say ‘Sweet!’”
