Due to a reduced maintenance staff, several volunteer workers came together on August 16 to help renovate and remodel the soccer and lacrosse fields.
Projects included renovating the dugouts, concession stands, bleachers, and fences; fixing potholes in the parking lot; painting and landscaping, according to Jeffrey Gress, head coach of the Granville men’s lacrosse team.
The project was created in attempt to improve conditions of the fields after several of the maintenance workers resigned, said Gress. “We have to start relying on volunteer help.”
“[I] didn’t even know about it,” Principal Matthew Durst said about the project. In regards to hiring new maintenance staff, Durst said they would fill the missing spots.
In the meantime, Durst joked about filling the missing spot himself by saying, “You know what I’m doing right now? Practicing my zero turns on a lawn mower.”
