Right now it is the 7th week into the season and the boys are now 7-6, and 5-2 in the conference.
“Despite numerous obstacles and lack of size, we have persevered,” senior Will Sharp said. “We are currently leading the LCL Buckeye Division and have a month of basketball left that looks like nothing but W’s.”
Sharp has been out for the whole season, barely getting to play, which has forced younger players to step it up and fill his role on the court.
“Senior Justin Thompson and Teddy Parsley have stepped up in huge ways and showed their strength without me,” Sharp said
The boys are third in the LCL behind Heath and Johnstown, but are now number one in the big school division of the LCL.
“Our first half of the season had a lot of hard teams but it got us prepared for the important LCL games like Watkins,” senior captain Teddy Parsley said
The boys played a tough game on Tuesday at Watkins, and came out with a win 53-42 to seize the LCL Buckeye lead.
“Beating Watkins gave us the lead in the league which is what we want. But we need to go on a little run right here and finish out the season strong,” Parsley said.
A big win against Licking Valley will allow the Aces to stay first in the Buckeye Division.
With only nine games left until the playoffs start, the boys must keep it up and work together to stay with a winning record.
Some big games coming up are Northridge and Licking Heights.
