The competition cheer team performs with all their effort. Their hard work paid off when they won first at the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) state competition at Worthington Kilbourne High School on Jan. 15.
“It was exciting to get first place and because it was the first time since 6 year,” junior Melissa Murphy said. “I’m really proud of our performance. We went out there performed to the best of our ability. Now we need to perfect the routine for nationals.”
The team is full of positive outlooks and determination.
“The girls and I were really determined to win the state title this year because we took second place last year,” sophomore Brooke Fuller said.
The team is to preparing to compete at nationals, ready to end the season right.
“It was the first time we competed against really good teams and winning gave us a lot more confidence going into nationals,” senior Rachael Shomaker said.
The competition team is set on making an impression at nationals, and this competition was yet another milestone on the way.
