The baseball team has jumped out to a hot start to begin the season.
The first three games were played at a tournament in Georgia over spring break. The tournament included some of the most promising young talent in America and the team came back to Ohio with a solid 1-2 record.
After dropping a disappointing contest to Lancaster, the Aces have reeled off four straight wins, all by seven or more runs. The team is 4-0 in conference play.
Senior Parker Tietz attributes the recent success to a change in the pregame warmup.
“Our new warm up is much more aggressive, it recreates a game like situation before we play,” said Tietz.
Tietz has been dominant in his first three outings, mowing through batters on his way to a 3-0 record. Seniors Clay Piatt and TJ Carney-DeBord have come up with timely hits to propel the team during the win streak.
Tietz, Alex Strouse and their fellow members of the pitching staff have created a PO (Pitchers Only) Lounge, an exclusive inter-team club reserved for pitchers.
“We’ve been recruiting younger arms to sustain the legacy of the pitching staff,” says Tietz.
The team will try to keep up their red hot pace on Monday night with an important conference matchup against the undefeated Lakewood Lancers.
