The Blue Aces faced off against Sparta Highland in the second round of the tournament last night. The Aces lost a tough game 11-0 after a huge 6th inning from Sparta Highland. Highland, led by their stud sophomore pitcher Mack Anglin, shut the Aces down.
The game started off slow with both teams not able to get much going on the offensive side of things. After some close calls early, the Scots finally started to get going, scoring two runs in the fourth. Highland then erupted for nine runs in the 6th inning, sending the Aces home early.
Sadly, The Blue Aces graduate seven seniors from their roster, three of which pitched in last night’s game. A very well respected group of guys will be missed from the dugout.
With this many players leaving, Granville has big shoes to fill for next season, returning a much more inexperienced team. For next year, the Aces will need a strong offseason by a large group of underclassmen, as well as leadership from the few returning starters.
