A historic season came to an end when the football team was defeated 20-7 by the Sheridan Generals on Nov 9.
Friday’s game was a tough fought battle between the two teams. Sheridan quickly took control scoring early in the game. Granville continued to fight against Sheridan’s momentum and the rainy, cold weather they faced.
According to Coach Buttermore the game “was a disappointing end because we did not feel like we played our best football.”
However, their season can not benchmarked by this defeat, they finished 10-2 and won the first ever playoff game in school football history.
“I am extremely proud of how much we improved over the course of the season and I’m excited for the future,” Buttermore said.
The pride for these players goes beyond Buttermore. Multiple fans took to Twitter acknowledging the team and their incredible season successes.
Ben Blanchard tweeted from the student section Twitter account, “It has truly been an honor rooting this team on during this historic season.”
It has truly been an honor rooting this team on during this historic season. Through the ups and the downs these boys played their hearts out. We could not be more proud to cheer for them each week. It’s been one hell of a season boys, congratulations to all of you. #goACES ?

Basketball coach, Adam Teeters also expressed his take on the season in a tweet. “Tremendous fall and a fun ride to watch from the sidelines,” he said.
Words are hollow at this time, but I’ll simply say thanks and congrats to all involved in the 2018 GHS football season. Tremendous fall and a fun ride to watch from the sidelines.

The football team is graduating twenty seniors this year, among them quarterback Cameron Crouch, who will be playing at Olivet Nazarene, and majority of their starters. Junior Mitch Kunar said that this class made an impact.
“They have been a class of leaders, they have a lot of experience, and have paved the way for the 2020 class to have success in the next season.”
