Environmental science students won $500 to complete the living wall project they started last year at the Teen Eco Summit hosted by the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. The team, made up of students from Mr. Reding’s AP Environmental Science Class, was one of the four teams to win money.
The students competed against 20 high schools for $2000 in grant money. The Granville team’s project was to improve and finish the living wall located in the hallway in between the Nutrition bar and cafeteria.
Reding said the grant will be used to expand on the living wall project started last year by Mrs. Newell’s AP Environmental Science students.
“The addition will include more hanging pots and a repurposed pallet containing herbs to be used in the cafeteria. They are also hoping to add some student artwork that focuses on nature and a possible water feature,” Reding said.
The team was made up of juniors Genevieve Gay, Sabrina Krieg, Penny Hunter
Tori Bergstron, Olivia Grandbois, Riley Chodak and Connor Bush.
