The new school store opened for students and staff on Sept. 5. The store offers items ranging from t-shirts for football games, to crew-neck sweatshirts, to sunglasses and other items for sports events.
The store can be accessed by students and staff during ACE period on school days, or at home sporting events, such as football, basketball, cross country, and many other games. The store was opened by DECA, a business club at the high school, ran by DECA adviser Grace Seibold.
“The opening of the store has been slow, but it has been a good start,” Seibold said. “For only being open for 2 weeks, the business has been a learning curve.”
The store comes up with new designs every week, which are designed by the students themselves throughout the school day.
“The designs are unique,” DECA chapter president Spencer Beckett said. “The fact that they come from the students and aren’t created by a manufacturer or a company helps us stand out.”
While the store is not run by adults or via the school, it still has the potential to stand out, even more than it already is.
“Us running the store as students also helps us stand out, instead of letting adults or the school run it,” Beckett added.
The school store plans to retain the unique outlook it has, as it will be at the high school for the remainder of the year, and hopefully for years to come.
“The hope is for the store to continue providing opportunities both for students to learn how to run a business and sell products, and as an opportunity for people to purchase unique, designed items that come from the store,” Seibold said.
