Top 10 nostalgic items

For kids born in 2005 and 2006
Top 10 nostalgic items

I was a kid born in 2006 and I feel like it was the prime time of my life. All the toys and activities were so fun and creative! So I decided to make a list of the top ten of my favorite items when I was a child during that time.

#1 Pillow Pets:
These are the most comfortable and most reliable childhood things to ever exist. Everywhere I would go this would come with me. Car rides, sleeping in my bed, friends’ houses, literally everywhere. My sister and I used to also play with ours together as real animals. I had the lamb and she had the bear. I had mine showing off on my bed when I would make it in the morning too. A little funny story about my pillow pet is that I would do hairstyles and such on it, one day I was using an air dryer to dry it off and stuck it a little too close to its face. From then on my lamb had a burn on its face for the remaining time I had it.

#2 Play-Doh:
Now this is something we had in our house all the time. Hundreds of containers of all different kinds of Play-Doh. My siblings and I never got bored of it. We could make balls out of it, make shapes, and different foods, and even mix the colors to make a cool tie-dye effect! Play-Doh is an childhood amazing memory of mine and I will always come back to it if it ever comes across me.

#3 Loom:
If you had the different packs of bands you were considered super cool. Loom was a fun where for friends to come together and bond over making bracelets. Some kids could do the cool fishtails and I was always so jealous because I only knew how to do the regular way. I would always ask people to make them for me since I was not as experienced. The process of making them in general was a little complicated but when you got used to it you would have 100 bracelets all done.

#4 Junie B. Jones Books:

These were my all-time favorite books. They have 24 different books and I have read every single one of them. It was a good children’s book once you can read a chapter book. This was a relatable series for kids going to school and were nervous. Junie B traveled through the school year and some different scenarios she would overcome. Children could read and follow along with her tips and tricks.

#5 Plastic Princess Heels:

I did not play dress up as often as you would think a little girl would, but when I did boy did these shoes just make the experience a million times better. I would imagine myself as a real princess and walk and click around throughout the house!

#6 Sketchers:
Sketchers were the top shoe of my time. Having these was so fun and stylish. I loved the sparkles and the lights. These shoes complete the outfit and make you stand out at school and everywhere you want.

#7 I Spy Books:
This book was always a way to have a little fun in school whether it was at the book fair, in the classroom, or bringing it to lunch. I Spy was always a fun interactive way to be creative and bring kids together to help out. Looking for all the little pieces was so fun and a good memory I have of my childhood.

#8 Password Journal:
This was one of the coolest things in my generation. Girls were so excited to get to write in their journals. It was lockable and then your voice would be used to unlock it.

#9 Slap Bracelets:
The different styles and prints of these bracelets were always so fun. It would be a wide variety of different designs and always something for everyone. These bracelets were also super easy to get on you slap it on. Sometimes it could get out of hand, especially with siblings, by slapping each other and it would possibly hurt. Overall these bracelets add a fun accessory to your outfit for the day.

#10 Behavior Chart:
This chart was either the worst part of your day or the best and very uplifting. I usually was in the green and it was pretty rare for anyone to get in the orange or red. One time I remember my 3rd grade teacher wanted to see me after class on the way way to lunch. I do not remember exactly what I did but I remember being super scared and I went in and got yelled at and she moved me to read. I was fighting the urge to not cry because I had never been in the red before. So this is definitely at the bottom of my list.
