Nailled that recipe: Celebrate the holidays with these peanut butter cup cookies

BY EMMA NAILLE (‘18)

Celebrating the holidays with family or trying to figure out what to get someone can be very stressful. Baking with family or friends, or even as a present for loved ones, is such a satisfying and relaxing way to celebrate the holidays. One of my favorite things to do to relax is to watch the Tasty Buzzfeed videos on Youtube, so I thought it would be nice to actually try one of these recipes out for once. I chose the Peanut Butter Cup Cookies because they looked delicious and my friends and family love peanut butter cups. You can find the recipe on the Tasty Youtube channel, website or on the convenient Tasty app which gives step by step instructions and helpful videos to go along with the instructions.

Making the cookies was really simple, easy and quick. The recipe is very straightforward, you basically just combine all of the ingredients together. The only thing that makes it slightly inconvenient is that the dough is supposed to chill for an hour before you bake the cookies, which just firms up the dough and doesn’t let the cookies spread as much so they are denser. But if you’re in a hurry you can probably skip this step and the cookies will still turn out fine, they will just spread out a little more. I followed the recipe exactly, except that it said to bake them for 8-10 minutes and I ended up baking mine for around 13 minutes total. However, this did make my cookies a little crispier (which I prefer) than the cookies appeared in the video. This might also explain why I did not get that perfect melted peanut butter cup in the middle of the cookie that was a shot at the end of the video.

The cookies were really satisfyingly salty and sweet, just like a peanut butter cup. They are simple and not really anything special, but delicious in a classic way. They would be perfect for someone who loves peanut butter or Reese’s cups as they are basically just a peanut butter version of the classic chocolate chip cookie. I would recommend eating them with a glass of milk to soften the cookies, especially if they are not fresh.

This is a great, no-fuss recipe to satisfy your sweet tooth or for inexperienced bakers looking for something a little bit more interesting to try than classic or plain cookies. It is a great, simple recipe to use for baking with friends or family, as a present or to leave out for Santa.
