Pizza Review: Plaza Pizza is one of the best

BY KYLEE MCFARLAND (’18)

Plaza Pizza is a hidden gem found on 1130 Mt Vernon Rd in Newark. It is a family owned shop and the employees are very kind and good at their jobs. A fair warning, you do have to pay in cash because they don’t take credit or debit cards and they don’t deliver, but don’t worry because it’s a pretty short drive and well worth it too.

Although most people mainly pick up their order to go, you can sit inside at the tables and eat under the pleasant aroma of freshly cooked food. They sell a variety of different pizza toppings from pineapple to hamburger. They also sell what they call their Delicious Torpedo Sandwich that I have yet to try.

I ordered the cheese pizza and i’m being completely honest when I say it’s the best I’ve ever had. I can say this because I’ve eaten there multiple times so it wasn’t just one time when I was craving pizza. There’s just something about it that makes it better than the rest, but I can’t quite figure it out. The mini (9 inch) cheese pizzas are $5.00, smalls (11 inch) are $6.50, larges (13 inch) are $9.50, and the extra large (15 inch) is $12.25. Click here for their menu to find the prices of their other pizzas and call 740-366-2511 if you’re hungry.

They’re open Sunday through Thursday from 4:30 pm to 12:00 am except they’re closed on Wednesday. On Saturday and Friday they are open from 4:30 pm to 1:00 am.
