Coming off of a historical playoff run, Granville Football has been eager to get back on the field. The Blue Aces will take on Johnstown, Friday, Sept. 2nd at 7:00pm in The Walter Hodge Stadium. This will be an exciting non-conference game where Granville will look to continue their winning streak.

The team already has a 2-0 record, beating Whitehall and Clearfork in low scoring games. Senior Tyler Ernsberger is leading the team as the starting quarterback. He made his debut last season when star quarterback Carsyn Crouch was injured at the beginning of playoff games. In hopes of leading the team to the State Final, Ernsberger has been working hard on increasing his accuracy, passing and run game.

The team has many other star players including senior running back Matt Chaykowski, senior wide receiver Miles Eckenrode and junior Wide Receiver Dante Varasso. Varasso proved his spot on the field during the Clearfork win when he returned the opening kickoff for a 90-yard touchdown. The Ernsberger to Varasso connection is very impressive and will definitely be one to look out for this season.

Despite the team’s loss of many talented seniors last year, new freshman and sophomore players have also been working hard to fill those spots. The team has blended together very nicely and are ready to prove that this year’s Blue Aces can win the State Title for the first time in school history.
