The home page of Alyvia’s channel is inviting, exciting, and aesthetically pleasing.

With the introduction of social media, becoming a celebrity isn’t as difficult as it used to be. It doesn’t take endless auditions and years of waiting for a big break anymore. Today, you can simply post a video of yourself to any social media and it has a chance of blowing up, boosting you to celebrity status. YouTube was one of the earliest forms of social media and perhaps the most timely.

Ever since its release in 2005, it has lasted longer than any other social media website. Creators have found lives there and made them millions of dollars. They’re able to do something they love without having to audition or interview. It’s one of the most flexible creative medias out there and that also gives way to young people being able to use it too. That stands true for junior Alyvia Kaethow, who has her own YouTube channel. Here are 10 questions with Alyvia about her life as a young and growing YouTuber!

Q: How long have you been constantly posting to YouTube?

A: I have been consistently posting on YouTube for as long as I can remember. I probably started around 6th grade. It wasn’t until recently when I finally got a camera that I’m able to take it seriously.

Q: Why did you start your YouTube channel?

A: I started my channel because I’ve always been so into social media and it’s my true passion. I’ve never stopped making videos since I received a phone and it’s always been something I’ve looked up to people who do.

Q: What kind of content do you post?

A: I post lifestyle videos, like get ready with me, vlogs, hauls, shopping and fashion, etc!

Q: How long did it take for you to gain a following?

A: I am still growing my account and I hope one day to have a much bigger platform! I gained a following because I’ve always used some sort of platform with following to promote my YouTube on, like now I have a growing Tik Tok account and past accounts. I also have just reached a YouTube audience who like to watch my videos for me content and I receive new subscribers everyday!

Q: What is the hardest part about having a YouTube channel?

A: The hardest part about having a channel is definitely staying consistent with posting and coming up with content ideas to stay relative and not boring! I try to post once or twice a week and at some points, it’s way easier than others.

Q: Where do you hope this takes you in life in terms of success, fame, money, etc.?

A: I dream to be a content creator and influencer. It has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I hope to keep improving my videos!

Q: Are your family and friends supportive of your channel?

A: My family, especially my mom, has always been very supportive of my channel. My mom bought me my camera and has always reminded me to keep going even when people at school thought it was weird. She definitely takes my passion seriously and motivates me! I’m so thankful as well that my friends always want to be in my videos and never thought it was weird.

Q: Do you ever receive any hate online? How do you deal with it?

A: I have definitely received hate comments on all my social medias but they never really get to me. I usually just delete the comments or ignore them.

Q: Are you planning on continuing to make content for your channel after high school?

A: I am for sure planning to make content after high school. I feel like I will be able to take it more seriously and there is nothing I enjoy more. It’s my true hobby and there are so many opportunities that come with it!

Q: What advice would you give someone who is just starting their own YouTube channel right now?

A: For someone who is just starting their own YouTube channel or any social media account that they hope to grow, I would say to just start it! It sounds cliche but if you don’t do something you want to do, you’re only hurting yourself. You think so many people would judge you and care about what you post, and sure you may get made fun of at school a little bit with little jokes from others, but I promise no one cares as much as you think they would! Do you!
