Granville welcomed a new addition to its downtown shopping scene this summer with the opening of Soul Tide, a new boutique.
Since opening in July, the boutique has drawn attention from visitors and the local community, with options in clothes, accessories and jewelry. Soul Tide is also it’s own clothing brand that offers comfy, casual, and cute clothing options for every season. There are variety of pieces for women that reflects current trends and timeless style.
“I really liked how welcoming the store felt when I walked in, and the cozy, well-though-out design made it stand out from other places,” senior Sydney Lauffer said.
Located next to Whit’s Frozen Custard in downtown Granville, the boutique’s name carries a personal meaning for owner Jennifer Rush and reflects the vision behind the store.
“The truth is, I never really knew how to answer what made me start my business,” Rush wrote on the Soul Tide website. “One day, I just woke up and felt like it was what I was meant to do. I truly believe it was a soul tie—something I was connected to without even realizing it at first.”
So far, the Granville community has responded very positively with lots of love to the owner and business.
“I thought it was so cute, and it completely reminded me of a boutique that I’d find at the beach,” sophomore Reagan Smith said.
Many shoppers believe that the store adds something new to the small town’s shopping experience.
“I think it was more geared towards teenage clientele compared to the other boutiques in town,” Smith said. “A lot of those feel like they’re for older people, but Soul Tide has things that I would actually like.”
The support from local shoppers and neighbors has played a big role in Soul Tide’s first months, something Rush said has made the experience even more meaningful.
“I truly could not have asked for a better community or a better start in these first few months,” Rush said. “The support has given me so much inspiration and hope for the future of the store.”
For many shoppers, Soul Tide already feels like a place they’ll return to, with Rush’s passion for her store clearly reflected in the experience.
“I can already tell I’ll be coming back, it’s the kind of boutique that feels both personal and inviting,” Lauffer said.
