Senior Isabella Dewey was selected after a competitive audition to perform with some of the most talented high school musicians in the world at Carnegie Hall this weekend.
The Honors Performance Series is a prestigious program that accepts auditions from all over the globe for their programs at places like Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Festival Hall at South Bank Centre, and the Sydney Opera House in Australia.
The audition process consisted of submitting recordings of the selected repertoire for the year, a teacher reference, and a performing biography form detailing performance experience.
The audition for the program pulls from high school students all over the world meaning the finalists who make it through are truly the best of the best. Dewey will be performing with the other musicians on Feb. 8 after four days of rehearsals guided by world class conductors.
Carnegie Hall is the most prestigious and famous performance hall in all of the United States. It was first built in 1891 as a product of Andrew Carnegie’s generous donations. Carnegie Hall has been the stage for some of the most famous performers and performances since its creation. Perhaps most famously was violinist Isaac Stern who had more than 200 performances at Carnegie Hall in his lifetime and led the effort to save it from demolition culminating in 1960 with its purchase by the New York City Board.
