On April 25, Granville High School students stepped into a “masquerade”-themed prom, a vision chosen by juniors and seniors through a schoolwide vote.
Bryn Du, the location where Prom takes place, was decorated with an array of blacks, golds, whites and reds along with many other masquerade aspects such as feathers, candles and decorative masks. These captivating decorations did not just appear overnight.
As many students were working to prepare themselves for the dance, many hard workers around the school were spending that same time preparing the actual night for those attendees.
Andrew Busack, the junior class president, took the lead on the creative vision in terms of decorations. With the help of the class officers, Busack was able to create exactly what juniors and seniors voted for.
“Together, we chose the items we wanted to decorate with,” Busack said. “I decided where certain pieces will be placed, and how the venue will be elevated in a manner that reflects masquerade.”
Busack was satisfied with the work he and other class officers put into the event. He notes the importance of the role he took on.
“It has been fun to take responsibility for such an important event,” Busack said. “I am very excited to be a part of Prom and the ultimate culmination of the decorative vision.”
The decor of an event can elevate the experience, which these decorations succeeded in. No detail was overlooked in the process of tying the masquerade theme together. Junior Violet Richey-Brown, a prom attendee, expressed her surprise for the attention to detail.
“I did not know what to expect in terms of decorations, but I hoped they would be unique,” Richey-Brown said. “I’m so glad the theme was actual used for its potential rather than not being considered.”
Overall, with all the hard work and constant planning that was put into this year’s prom, it proved to be an unforgettable night.
