What is your take action project focused on? We organized a music festival called Goat Fest to raise money for the Land Lab and the goats at GIS. We featured local bands and speakers about environmental issues, as well as creating T-shirts with DECA for the event.
Why did your group choose this focus for your project? We chose this because we were all interested in music and wanted to fund the important environmental projects that already are doing so much for our community.
What has the project process looked like up to this point? We’ve been doing a lot of scheduling and have reached out to a lot of different bands, speakers, and venues. We were lucky enough to have our venue donated to us from The Yard at the Newark Station and our bands (The Zeitgeist, Sulfur, Alligator, and The Burning Brain Band) also donated their time for the cause.
Why is your project important (especially environmentally)? We are raising money for future environmental projects relating to the Land Lab and specifically the Land Lab goats.
