What is your take action project focused on? Constructing an orchard and protecting it within the goat pen in the LandLab.
Why did your group choose this focus for your project? We heard about how the trees that were originally in the goat pen had been destroyed by the goats. We were inspired to bring those trees back while ensuring the goats could not destroy them once again.
What has the project process looked like up to this point? We applied for a grant through the Granville Education Foundation, asking for $1000 to purchase fruit trees and fencing material to surround the trees with. When we received that grant, we were able to purchase the trees and materials. We have been in contact with different people to complete tasks such as digging holes for these trees.
Why is your project important (especially environmentally)? Our project is important because it creates more biodiversity within the LandLab and provides the goats and the local community with fruit.
