The boys’ basketball team starts off the season hot with a strong record of 6-2, losing only to Groveport and Licking Valley.

The Licking Valley boys’ basketball team came back to defeat Granville yet again with a score of 57-60.  They lost in their first game with Licking Valley last year 45-34, then again with Licking Valley winning by just one point (40-39).

“We play them February 2nd and we are ready to get redemption,” senior Nick Windley said. “It shouldn’t even be a close game according to our talent level.”

As goes for other players and Nick, the boys will not step down when it comes to their next fight and really bring their talents to the table.

Being defeated by Licking Valley did not stop the Aces from bringing their all to the court against Licking Heights. On January 6 the boys did not disappoint at home against Licking Heights, leading 52-41. The student section and the boys were all in high spirits over the defeat of the Hornets.

“We bounced back against Licking Heights after losing to Valley, it was a good team win,” senior Elijah Smith said. “I think if we can continue to play as a team that we will win a lot of games for the remainder of the season.”

Smith is looking forward to following out his last high school season with his close friends on the team, while gaining many wins.

Last year the Aces took a win against the Hornets 52-48. Then played them again and suffered a loss of 44-39. This year the Aces were back for revenge making out for a good game for the players and the students.

“The Heights win was a good bounce back win against a top LCL team,” senior Coury Rogers said. “I think it will spark a strong run for the rest of the season.”

Rogers is known for his persistent three-point shooting ability, last year scoring 43 points. The Aces made a total of 616 points in 2017. For 2018, the Aces have already scored 416 points. Aces are having a great start to the season and are ready to continue dominating the game.
