Parents hope to raise thousands for football at fundraiser dinner

The Granville Touchdown Club, a fundraising group created by parents of senior football players, is holding an event to raise money for the program on Friday, April 12. The Granville Touchdown Club Fundraiser Dinner and Auction is being held at the Double Tree Hotel in downtown Newark, and will include dinner, cocktails and a silent auction with a wide range of gift and service packages to bid on. Head football coach Justin Buttermore will speak at the event, and local pastor and Granville parent Todd Garman will emcee.

According to Buttermore, the club is hoping to raise upwards of $15,000 for football expenses that include equipment, uniforms and renovated facilities. The tickets for the event for a couple cost $125, and auction items include gift baskets, gift card packages, trip packages and football player labor packages where senior players will come to the buyer’s house and perform yard work.

While Granville athletics have had fundraiser dinners in the past, including Blue and White Night, which was put on by the Granville Athletic Boosters and benefited every sport. This is the first football-specific fundraiser run by football families from grades 7-12.

Through this fundraising effort, the football team is hoping to build on the momentum of their successful 2018 season where they won the first playoff game in school history.
