Why pumpkin spice lattes are the best
BY AVA KUNAR (’18)
I like pumpkin spice lattes a latte and according to Twitter, so do most teenage girls today. Before you call my PSL loving friends and I basic, hear me out.
PSLs are so popular and cliché for a reason. They are amazing. They are so widely liked not only because of the fall-like aura that they bring, but because of the spectacular taste that they hold.
Possibly, one can attribute this creamy and delicious taste to the ingredient list. Cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, milk, espresso, whipped cream, and pumpkin pie spice are all mixed together and steamed to perfection to create the staple fall drink that we all know and love. PSLs are not the only pumpkin spice flavored treat that are so unanimously enjoyed today. In 2015, $361 million was spent on pumpkin spice flavored items.
Obviously eating pumpkin spice flavored foods is the way to go! If this trendy spice and drink combination is so widely liked by people today, maybe you will like it too! Jump on the PSL bandwagon today at a coffee shop near you.
I hate pumpkin spice a latte
BY LEXI MARELLI (’18)
The infamous pumpkin spice latte is always extremely popular in the fall. Teenage girls love to carry them around and take Snapchat stories holding them up. When asked what drink they ordered, girls love to respond, “A pumpkin spice latte!!” It has become a stereotype towards young girls.
To avoid the judgement and eye rolls from everyone around, there are lots of other alternatives to the cliché pumpkin spice latte. If a fall-flavored drink is a necessity, the S’mores Latte from River Road is a great alternative. There is also a Cinnabun Latte, a Caramel Latte, and even an Autumn Latte, which has apple flavoring taking the fall themed drink in a different direction.
The best part about these drinks is they do not come with the negative stereotype a friend might receive when they order a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Not to mention the flavor itself of these drinks is enough to send anyone running. The pumpkin spice put into the drink is an orange goopy paste that is less than appetizing.
With all of this information and great alternatives, I do not know why anyone would purchase a pumpkin spice latte.
