10 questions with Intervention Specialist Sean Rainey
Teacher+putts+on+a+happy+face+on+the+course

When did you get into golf?

My dad would take me to the Granville driving range when I was in elementary school. He took me to an actual course in 6th grade called Indian Hills.

Why did you enjoy it so much?

Reminded me of baseball. I like to try and hit it as far as I can.

Does golf bring you happiness?

Sometimes. When you’re playing well and you are outside with your friends.

Is golf a social or more independent thing?

Turns into a social thing.

Do you prefer playing with people or alone?

I like playing with people. One person or a group of four. Depends on the speed of the game that person likes to play. For me, I play at a faster pace.

Pros of Golf?

Helps with the competitiveness you can not get when playing high school sports. You can really challenge yourself. Being outside. Its more safe than other sports.

Cons of Golf?

It’s expensive. If you do not play well and you buy all the equipment and clothing it will be a waste of money. It can also turn into a long experience, very time-consuming.

Favorite part about golfing?

Being out there with your friends. Trying to beat each other scores.

How is it different from other sports?

It is more slow-paced than most sports. It is also able to be played solo or with people.

Why should people try out golf?

It is a challenge. Most of the time you are spending time with people you like so it is a good bonding experience. You get to see a competitive side of people that you may have not seen before.
